I-CYT

An office building building in the Resarch Park of Champaign Illinois that is designed with the flexibility of hosting office spaces as well as labs. The architecture is a simple masonry volume that has been carved on 2 sides to reveal a glass and metal skin that maximizes natural light on the interior office spaces yet provides protection form sun and rain and expands the views onto the water retention pond on the south side. The main lobby is a 2 story see through glassy volume for communal tenant activities. The interior finishes put in contrast the slickness of laminated glass, metal panels and white walls with colorful furnishings and accents that allow the space to be both hi-tech in feel yet comfortable and playful.
