CA Daycare

A building designed to host a new Daycare as well as a Speech & Language center facility within the Research Park in Champaign Illinois. The design is based on the idea of 2 large arms embracing the community with the central portion hosting the main entrance and a multipurpose room. The 2 arms contain the classrooms and the circulation, which occurs along the exterior glass walls on the east side, and the parking, becoming an element of visual connection between children and parents. All classrooms have direct access to a west facing series of playgrounds away from the street, giving privacy to the outdoor recreation. The architectural finishes reflect the spirit of the interiors with the use of bright primary colors on simple volumes and articulating the mass of the building increasing its visibility from the street.
